It's a special day today and I treated my husband to a Nature and Wildlife cruise out of Tarpon Bay Explorers. The facility, in cooperation with USFWS at J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge, offers daily tours on pontoon boats in Tarpon Bay....being a volunteer for Ding Darling has its special perks.
The boat took us slowly around the rookery islands where we saw young families being raised....such as these Cormorants learning how to go fishing |
The baby Brown Pelicans are still sitting on the nests and are being fed by their parents. |
The Snowy Egrets are busy with their family units too. |
The Brown Pelicans displaying nesting behavior by gathering up sticks for their nest. |
easier said than done with such long beaks. |
I highly recommend the tours that are available on a daily basis www.tarponbayexplorers.com
Wow nice! I got a couple of nice new shirts but I think I'd prefer the birding trip!
ReplyDeleteWow. What a nice idea. You had a nice day for it too. I love the baby pelican... One of the pictures you took of the white egret his wing made me think of an angel wing..
