Another very special treat for me yesterday - was to be in the presence of Limpkins.....hundred of them could be seen and especially heard at Circle B Bar Reserve. I don't know if it's just me, but when they start to "krr-oww" it brings a huge smile to my face and it instantly makes my day. Take a look for yourself.

The Limpkin (26") is chocolate brown overall, densely streaked with white above. Long bill, slightly down-curved. Long legs and large, webless feet are dull grayish green. It loves to eat snails, frogs and insects. NG states that it is race to fairly common in Florida....in the case of the Circle B Bar Reserve, I would say it is very common. |
