I've been hearing about the White Crowned Pigeon making several appearances at Ding Darling lately - specifically at the Caloosa Shell Mound and I thought I would check it out.
I was pleasantly surprised that the Wildlife Drive wasn't as busy as I've seen it a few weeks ago.
My few sightings for today....
The resident Yellow-crowned Night Heron....busy feeding on fiddler crabs....very focused and precise, always a pleasure to watch him. |
I don't know about you, but I never get tired of seeing the White Pelicans. Check out the Little Blue in front and how tiny he looks. |
A few Willets resting among Cormorants and Ibis. |
One of two Red-breasted Merganser that I saw today. |
Iver Brooks pointed out the Red Knot with the Dunlin - I'm glad he did....I would have missed it since I was keeping my eyes on the merganser. |
A few Cattle Egrets resting on Little Blue's turf. |
Sorry you missed the Pigeon but the birds you did see are all wonderful. Lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your photos. I love the markings on the yellow-crowned night heron and his hair doo. The white pelicans I love seeing them. Maybe I will see them someday in real life...little blue looks very tiny. Poor little guy. I like seeing the doo on the red-breasted merganser.
